A wonderful, new caffe/restaurant has opened in Sausalito with authentic Italian fare and a glorious espresso bar under the ownership of  Mauro Dosolini.  He has  spent a considerable amount of time creating this relaxing, yet artistically elegant caffe, perfect for a quick bite to eat or lounging over one of their flavorful cappuccino drinks with a friend.

Breakfast recommendations include a selection of pastries: croissant, Danish, muffins and scones at around and a new item sure to be a hit, homemade waffle with fruit, .75. Their oak-wood roasted coffees are robust without being bitter, and remind you of the best coffee and espresso served in Italy. All the espresso drinks are made with a 1961 Faema Espresso machine imported from Italy, of special pride to Mauro.

At lunch, you will find a delicious array of authentic Italian specialties. On the lighter side are an incredible variety of sandwiches made with homemade foccacia bread, baguette or croissant, priced around . The sandwiches are offered with a mixed green salad tossed with a specialty of the day like fruit, fresh cheese or nuts.

For main dishes, try the Piatti Caldi created fresh everyday out of the DiVino oven. You can find such items as Frittata made with spinach, onion and other vegetables, baked eggplant with Parmesan cheese and fresh mozarella, or polenta with mushrooms.

One of the specialties of the house, homemade Lasagna and Vegetable Timballo served with a mixed green salad, are already making a name for themselves among the people frequenting the caffe. You will always find, particularly Mauro on hand, he is  an Italian native greets you with a brilliant smile and special hospitality.

He also invites you to visit his other Caffe in Sausalito, which he calls il Piccolo,  on the Sausalito waterfront at 660 Bridgeway, Suite 3, under the Water Street Grill. The Tuscan-style coffee house, with a Mini Sausalito Art Gallery, has sheltered outdoor tables so patrons can enjoy spectacular views of San Francisco and the ferry docks looking down Raccoon Straits. Piccolo means little one.

Enjoy the fine art work that accentuates the natural ambiance, and feel like you are dining inside a Sausalito Art Gallery.
